There are not many occasions in professional golf which cause the same amount of passion, tension and excitement like the Solheim Cup. Whereas personal tournaments are aimed at personal accomplishments and the Solheim cup makes golf a team game and the players play not only on their own behalf but also on behalf of their continent.<\/span><\/p>\n

The tournament is a match-play competition among the best female golfers in the United States and Europe to bring about memorable moments. Dramatic single reappearances to the putt in front of thousands of audience, the event has transformed to become one of the most prestigious events in the realm of women sporting activities.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Solheim Cup (named after golf equipment inventor Karsten Solheim) is the female equivalent of the Ryder Cup. Since its inception in 1990 it has contributed to the sport of women golf being brought to a level of prominence around the world and has also served as the platform to many of the best players in the sport.<\/span><\/p>\n

Team USA leads the all-time series with an 11-7-1 record, yet each competition provides evidence that the rankings and records of the teams mean very little as soon as the first tee shot is delivered.<\/span><\/p>\n
