A serene authority is inherent in Torrey Pines Golf Course and it is evident when one commences a round. It does not bombard players with artificial difficulty and imposed drama. Rather, it creates a slow-acting pressure, which promotes rational choices and emotional restraint. No one is in a hurry in the course. It enables errors to be brought to light in an organic process of placement and time.<\/span><\/p>\n

The setting is over the Pacific Ocean in San Diego, which is not distracting. The patterns of wind vary during the day. Turf firmness is also the same. Raw distance is not as important as angles. Each hole poses a question and answers should be gained through planning and not by impulse.<\/span><\/p>\n
